EMERGING CURATOR PROGRAM

The Emerging Curator Program at A.P.E. is an
opportunity for community members interested in curation to gain
practical, hands-on experience in exhibit production from ideation to
completion. Emerging Curators will develop exhibition concepts, select
artists, paint and patch gallery walls, assist in installation/deinstallation, handle
artist contracts and communication, and facilitate all programming for
shows. This is a two-year long program, with the second year including
a mentorship stage to transition the program to the next round of curators.

The Emerging Curator Program is focused on curation of the Split Level Gallery at 33 Hawley, where curators will develop/tend to 3 one-month exhibitions per year (July, August, and September). Exhibitions can range in approach and media. Curators can (but are not required to) utilize one of the months to exhibit their own work. A.P.E. provides a small stipend to curators, as well as check-ins, feedback sessions, moderate administrative and publicity support.

If you are interested in this program, please email a letter of interest to submissions@apearts.org
